Qantas Frequent Flyers can now indulge in a selection of gourmet foods to complement the quality wines already available through the Qantas epiQure website, the online food and wine community for Qantas Frequent Flyers.
The launch of the new food range, which includes more than 60 products from producers in
Australia’s leading wine regions, provides another opportunity for Qantas Frequent Flyers to earn and spend their Qantas Points. Qantas epiQure members earn three Qantas Points per dollar on the Qantas epiQure’s food and wine range, while Qantas Frequent Flyers earn one Qantas Point on equivalent purchases. Purchases can be made using Qantas Points or cash.
The expansion of Qantas epiQure follows a year of significant growth with wine orders more than doubling during the past 12 months and the product range increasing by 33 per cent, delivering more choice to members.
Head of Qantas epiQure Lisa Hudson said food and wine are second only to travel as an interest of Qantas Frequent Flyer members so it made sense to introduce a food range for Qantas epiQure.
“Good food and quality wine go hand in hand and we’re excited to be offering our members a new gourmet food range to accompany the top quality wines they’re already enjoying,” Ms Hudson said.
The food range, which includes oils and vinegars, wild honey and truffles, has been curated exclusively from winegrowing regions. It has been designed to pair with Qantas epiQure’s wines, which are selected by expert cellarmasters who scour the country in search of Australia’s top quality wines. Like the boutique wines on offer, in many cases the food producers are small family businesses in regional towns.
“As Australia’s national carrier, we are passionate about championing the fantastic food and wine products that come out of our own backyard. Launching a food component as part of Qantas epiQure is another way for us to celebrate excellence and the unique offerings of some of our Australian producers. We’re passionate about delivering the best gourmet experiences onboard, as well as to our loyal Frequent Flyer members at home,” Ms Hudson added.
To make it easier for Qantas Frequent Flyers to buy their chosen wines and fine food, as well as spirits and other accessories, Qantas epiQure will soon be launching a new mobile app. The Qantas epiQure app will allow users to browse and purchase wine, gourmet products and event tickets, in addition to storing personal tasting notes on their favourite food and wine. Qantas Frequent Flyers will also be able to use the app to shop for products inflight.
Qantas epiQure members using the iOS Qantas epiQure app at premium events and lounges will receive personally targeted promotions such as discounts and special offers thanks to Apple®’s iBeacon® technology.
The app will be available shortly as a free download for iOS devices on the Apple App Store and for Android devices on Google Play.
