Qantas is making it easier for Kiwis to boost their points balance and book their next holiday, faster than ever before, with the expansion of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program in New Zealand.
From 2 December, Qantas Frequent Flyers will be able to convert their Everyday Rewards points into Qantas Points. Everyday Rewards points can be earned on purchases made at hundreds of Woolworths supermarkets, bp petrol stations, Petstock stores and other retailers across New Zealand. Kiwis will also earn 50 per cent more Qantas Points than their trans-Tasman neighbours when converting with Everyday Rewards.
The expansion builds on the successful 16-year partnership between Qantas Frequent Flyer and Everyday Rewards in Australia, which has seen billions of points earned and over 2 million seats booked by members in the last 12 months alone.
Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance said the expansion would transform how Kiwis can participate and be rewarded as a Qantas Frequent Flyer.
“With New Zealand home to the most members outside of Australia, it’s important that we continue to grow the program and expand the ways that members can earn points and redeem them on great travel experiences.
“The new partnership with Everyday Rewards will deliver more benefits outside of flying. Now, an everyday activity like grocery shopping or filling up the car will help Kiwis get closer to their dream holiday.”
To earn points, Qantas Frequent Flyers must be members of the Everyday Rewards program and select Qantas Points as their rewards choice on the Everyday Rewards app or website.
STATUS FAST TRACK FOR TOP TIER KIWIS AND NO JOIN FEE
Kiwis who are top tier members of other airline loyalty programs will have the opportunity to switch to Qantas Frequent Flyer and fast track their status to Gold in the new year.
Those who hold Gold or higher equivalent status with other select airlines can fast track to Qantas Gold by earning 100 Status Credits in 90 days on flights with Qantas, Jetstar and partner airlines. Gold Status is usually obtained by earning 700 Status Credits in a membership year.
In addition, participating members will also enjoy complimentary access to the airline’s network of Qantas Club lounges and extra checked baggage during the 90-day fast track offer.
Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance added that the Status Fast Track would allow travellers to experience the benefits of the Qantas Frequent Flyer Gold tier from day one.
“It’s not every day that frequent flyers have the opportunity to fast track their status to Qantas Gold, so this is a great opportunity for travellers.
“Many made the switch back in 2020 and we know there are more Kiwis travelling with Qantas and Jetstar who want to unlock great benefits like priority check-in and boarding, extra baggage allowance and of course access to hundreds of lounges across the Qantas and oneworld network.”
Registrations for the Gold Status Fast Track will close on 14 January 2025, with the 90-day travel period to commence from 15 January 2025. For more information, visit qantas.com/statusfasttrack.
Eligible members could earn 100 Status Credits by booking a return trip from Auckland to New York with Qantas, two return trips from Christchurch to Sydney with Qantas, or five return trips from Dunedin to Auckland with Jetstar domestically.
Qantas Frequent Flyer, which currently offers ways to join the program for free in New Zealand, will also remove the NZ $60 join fee on its website later this month.
The move is designed to make the program more accessible for Kiwis, with booking data revealing that billions of Qantas Points – the equivalent value of tens of thousands of trans-Tasman reward seats – are unclaimed each year by travellers who are not registered or adding their Qantas Frequent Flyer number on bookings.
Qantas Frequent Flyers can earn points on all Qantas flights, Jetstar New Zealand domestic flights and select Jetstar international flights. Points can also be earned and redeemed with over 45 partner airlines, including Emirates, Cathay Pacific and American Airlines.
