Qantas will operate a third non-stop flight on behalf of the Australian Government between Cyprus and Sydney to help Australians in Lebanon return home.

Operated using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the flight (ASY1280) is expected to depart Larnaca, Cyprus on Friday evening (local time) with up to 220 passengers onboard. The flight is expected to arrive in Sydney on Saturday evening.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is coordinating registration for Australians wanting to return home.

The national carrier will operate this additional flight free of charge for the Australian Government, with no cost to those travelling on the flight.

Following arrival into Australia, Qantas will then fly passengers to their nearest home domestic airport that the airline operates to, at no cost.

Qantas would like to thank all operating crew and support staff who helped get Australians safely home from Cyprus on yesterday’s assisted departure flight, which carried a full load of passengers.

The second scheduled Qantas special assistance flight ASY1270 is expected to depart Larnaca on Wednesday evening (local time), arriving in Australia on Thursday evening.
